Since the late 1970s, we have specialized in Vibram sole replacement, boot resoling, and shoe repair for customers in Salem, Oregon and through our national mail-in repair service. Our master cobbler, George, brings more than 40 years of hands-on experience to every pair he works on.
Throughout his career, George has rebuilt and restored thousands of shoes and boots, developing a strong sense for which techniques and materials truly stand the test of time. That experience shows up in the details, and it is one reason customers trust us with favorite pairs they do not want to replace.
When it comes to recrafting Dr. Martens, we use premium Vibram soles known for durability, comfort, and excellent grip. Depending on the boot and the customer’s needs, common options may include the Vibram 1705 Stowe sole, Vibram 4014, or other suitable replacement soles. Our careful workmanship often results in boots that are not just restored, but improved—many customers tell us their rebuilt Docs feel even better than when they were new.

Not every pair of Dr. Martens requires the same replacement sole. Depending on the condition of your boots, the way you wear them, and the style you prefer, we may recommend several different Vibram sole options. Some customers want to preserve the classic appearance of their Docs, while others prefer a sole with more cushioning, a more aggressive tread pattern, improved durability, or just a different style.
Popular choices include the Vibram 4014, the Vibram 1705 Stowe, and several other replacement soles that have proven themselves over years of real-world use. Each sole offers a different combination of comfort, flexibility, traction, and appearance, allowing us to match the repair to both the boot and the customer's needs.
One of the advantages of resoling Dr. Martens is the ability to choose a replacement sole that better matches the way you actually wear your boots. Whether your priority is comfort, traction, flexibility, or durability, several Vibram options may be available.
VIBRAM 1758 "STALKER"
The Vibram 1758 Stalker is made of Gumlite, a Vibram material that is lightweight, cushioned and gives good traction. The "Bob" design tracks less mud than Vibram's traditional lug patterns.
VIBRAM 100 "MONTAGNA"
The Vibram 100 "Montagna" sole is an excellent option for customers who want a more rugged tread pattern on their Dr. Martens. This is a more aggressive outsole than many traditional boot soles. The Montagna are the soles that made Vibram famous for durability and traction.
